Advantages and Challenges of Online Listening Tests for Sound Quality Studies

Abstract:
Ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and its wide-ranging impact on the scientific community, conducting listening experiments in the closed rooms are becoming more problematic. At this point, importance of online perceptual experiments are growing. In this study, former ‘offline’ sound quality experiments conducted within the Chair of Acoustic and Haptics are repeated online to investigate the reliability and reproducibility of online auditory experiments. Both results are going to be compared in each other for different testing methods and different psychoacoustical investigations. Available online auditory experimenting methods and further challenges in terms of equalization problems, data handling and subject recruiting are also discussed.
