Abstract: MarinEARS is the scientific platform of the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH)regarding underwater noise effects for conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) in theframework of approval procedures for offshore wind farms as well as for the estimation of cumulative impactsin Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for Maritime Spatial Planning and the Site DevelopmentPlan for Offshore Wind Energy.MarinEARS contains extensive data sets from measurements of underwater sound within the scopeof planning and licensing approval procedures of OWF’s, from research projects and the conceptualdesign of the national monitoring programm.
